As with any ThruDark garment, durability has been maximised to keep your jumper in the action for longer. This has been done not only through use of a rib knit construction but the addition of reinforced shoulder and elbow pads made with a composite blend of Dyneema® and Cordura® - two of the strongest man made fibres on the planet. With the shoulders and elbows typically seeing the highest degree of wear and tear, this improves the jumpers capacity for backpack carriage and other abrasive demands. In terms of details, the garment is finished with bespoke ThruDark debossed hook and loop sleeve patches and a leather insignia badge.
A real heritage piece, the fisherman rib knit jumper as its name suggests found its early uses at sea before its versatility and durability led to its adoption by the military. We’ve taken the much loved, yet notoriously scratchy, cold weather staple and refined it with 100% pure New Zealand wool.
All of our wool is OEKO TEX and Woolmark certified meaning it meets some of the best standards around for sustainable production. In practice, this particular wool is remarkably durable and resilient to compression - making it the kind of pullover that can be stuffed in your backpack when not in use.
Wool is naturally breathable and water resistant and despite offering maximum insulation will do so without the typical issues of odour buildup associated with synthetic fibres. Add in its easy-clean properties and you’ve got a modern, practical woollen pullover designed to keep up with your active lifestyle.
