Heavy duty, goose down Parka designed for the edge of the world, destined for the end of the world. The End of Days Parka is waterproof to 20,000HH and stronger than steel at key areas thanks to a Pertex Shield construction bolstered with Kyoto Black Dyneema at the shoulders, back and arms. Tested down to -30 degrees celsius in hostile Icelandic tundra.
Pertex Shield is a breathable waterproof and windproof fabric comprised of a tightly woven face fabric and membrane. Like all Pertex fabrics, Shield is highly breathable - however the addition of a waterproof membrane sets it apart to the remainder of the Pertex range, with a Durable Water Repellant applied for good measure. Designed with a microporous structure which allows water vapour to escape as perspiration without allowing rainwater ingress. The use of Pertex Shield on the End of Days Parka enables us to create a waterproof jacket that remains breathable enough to prevent overheating. The jacket is also seam taped at key areas for added measure.
Dyneema is the strongest, synthetic fibre on the market today. First created in 1968 by Dutch bioscience giant Royal DSM, the fibre is 15x stronger than steel yet light enough to float on water. The name itself comes from combining the ancient Greek words for “strength” and “fibre”. Since its creation in the 1960s, Dyneema has become the material of choice for law enforcement and military units in bullet resistant armour – and has even been used to tether satellites in outer space and moor oil rigs on the oceans. We've used it on the shoulders, back and lower arms to mitigate traditional areas of high wear and tear.
The End of Days Parka has been insulated with goose down to 800 fill power for maximum insulation. Owing to their natural structure, down fibres are highly breathable, they’re hydrophobic (meaning they repel water), and their loft helps trap and store heat generated by the body. In terms of practicalities, the structure of down also makes it highly compressible which makes for jackets that can more easily pack down.
In terms of features, the End of Days Parka is rich in utility with a new bespoke camouflage lining made from Pertex Quantum, the finest in synthetic fur trimmed hoods provides additional protection from the wind (but is also detachable owing to preference). The inside of the hood itself is lined with Polartec Power Grid for additional insulation around the head and neck. Inside the jacket are large mesh pockets plus an internal zip pocket for additional sensitive essentials, you will also find an elasticated snowskirt which can be removed and/or clipped away when not required. On the outside of the jacket are two sets of chest pockets, straight hand warmer pockets and slanted pockets for additional storage. Lower patch pockets and sleeve stash pockets complete the storage capacity on the jacket. Also featuring a centre back yoke grab handle and two external, triangular d-rings.
