Women's Fleeces & Mid Layers

Good mid layer clothing will regulate your temperature and provide weather resistance during changeable conditions and pursuits. Ideal for hiking, trekking, camping and climbing, a high performance mid layer will keep you insulated whilst wicking moisture away from the body. Some mid layers may also provide water and wind resistance.

A mid layer typically differs from an outer layer owing to its level of weather resistance. A mid layer will normally be water and/or wind resistant where an outer layer will typically be water and/or wind proof. However, mid layers will typically be lighter in weight and more packable than an outer layer. A mid layer is designed to be worn under an outer layer to provide additional insulation as and when required.

A well fitted mid layer should fit snug to the body without being too tight/restrictive. The reason being it needs to fit snugly under an outer layer whilst retaining enough range of movement if you're scrambling, climbing or even putting on and removing your backpack.

Fleece fabric, such as that made by Polartec, makes for a great mid layer owing to its insulation, balanced with its breathability and moisture wicking capacity.
