Polartec® Thermal Pro® is a high-loft pile fleece fabric engineered for maximum warmth retention. Unlike grid-construction fleeces designed for active breathability, Thermal Pro uses a deep, dense pile structure that traps a large volume of warm air close to the body, making it one of the warmest fleece fabrics available at its weight. The construction also includes reinforced face fabric at the points of highest wear, giving the Mantra Fleece durability that matches its thermal performance. We chose Thermal Pro for the Mantra Fleece owing to its high warmth to weight ratio making it the ideal layer for packing on overnight camping trips or for throwing on at base camp.

Yes, with an important distinction on how you are using it. For skiing, the Mantra excels as a mid layer during lift queues, slow descents, and cold starts where warmth matters more than venting on the piste. For mountaineering, it is best suited to lower-output sections: belaying, bivouacking, resting at altitude, or high-altitude approaches in extreme cold. During high-output climbing or fast ascents, a lighter and more breathable option like the Siege Tech Fleece will manage heat and moisture more effectively. The Mantra is the fleece you want when you're static.

The Mantra is the warmest fleece in our range. The Polartec® Thermal Pro® high-loft pile construction traps significantly more air than the Power Grid™ construction used in our Siege Tech Fleece, which means more warmth at a comparable weight. Against insulated jackets in our range, the Mantra sits slightly below in raw warmth output but offers superior breathability for lower-output activity. If warmth in cold, static, or slow-paced conditions is your primary concern, the Mantra is the right starting point in our mid layer range.
